Wall Sculpture, Wood |
Description |
3-dimensional wood sculpture of an acorn which hung in the Acorn Press office on Bailey Ave. for many years. It is unknown who created it or when it was made. The significance of the acorn accompanied the wall decoration as a poem written by David Everett (1769-1813) from "Lines Written for a School Declamation." The poem reads: You'd scarce expect one of my age To speak in public on the stage And if chance to fall below Demostences or Cicero Don't view me with a critic's eye But pass my imperfections by Large streams from little fountains flow Tall oaks from little acorns grow. |
