Description |
A EF2 tornado touchdown hit Ridgefield July 13, 1950 around 7:30 p.m. According to a July 27, 1950 article, the tornado traveled one mile, starting along Main Street and moving through the center of town. According to a recollection of the event from a local newspaper, the tornado injured three people and caused a starting $50,000 in public property damages. Some documented damages like the roof of the former Ridgefield High School on East Ridge, which was partially torn off, and countless trees down across town were shown in photographs. 25 photos and 22 negatives documenting the aftermath were taken by Frank Gordon the day of the tornado.
