Scope & Content |
Mother's Magazine Vol. V - VI are magazine articles written by Mrs. Abigail Goodrich Whittelsey between 1837-1838. Mother's Magazine was created by a networking group of mothers in 1833, and contained articles on how to be a good mother with a religious slant to them. Mrs. Abigail Goodrich Whittelsey was born and raised in Ridgefield Connecticut, and was the daughter of Rev. Samuel Goodrich of the First Congretional Church. She eventually married Rev. Samuel Whittelsey, and the two moved to Utica New York where Mrs. Whittelsey connected with the Utica Maternal Association. The Utica Maternal Association was the group involved with publishing the first periodical, "Mother's Magazine." |
