Margaret Malval 02/06/2006 WW2OH 2 photos Australian born Margaret Barnes Malval and her husband, Henri, moved to Ridgefield in 1942. During WWII her husband served in the Army and Margaret joined the American Women's Voluntary Services. The AWVS volunteers in Ridgefield were trained in Red Cross First Aid and civil defense. The AWVS formed the Motor Transportation Corps and traveled to the military base in New Haven to drive military personnel to their destinations. When the war ended the Motor Corps used their funds to buy the town clock on Main street. |
