Bill Craig now holds the reins at Craig's Jewelry Store, which is one of the longest-running businesses on Main Street. When in high school, Billy worked along side his uncle, John Fossi, learning to repair and engrave jewelry. At 19, he graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in New York. He has developed Craig's into a thriving business and also takes time to be very involved in community affairs, serving as president of many organizations. Craig's was recenbtly invited to join teh prestigious Jewlry Organization Couture. Craig's was originally Frances Martin's business, which, at one time, he conducted in the window of what is now the pizza shop in the center of town. Mr. Craig's grandmother bought the business from Martin, moved it down the street a little, and turned it over to her son Norman. Norman and his wife Elsie (Fossi) Craig were well known both for their business, and for being highly active in community and political affairs. Ridgefield Magazine, May/June 2008 |
