Rita Potter 1/13/2006 WW2OH 5 photos Rita was born in Ridgefield in 1916. Her parents were Irish immigrants and her father worked on various estates in Ridgefield including the Buckley Estate on West Mountain Road. Rita and her sister Patsy Potter McManus attended the one room schoolhouse nearby. Rita joined the U.S. Marines Corps Women's Reserve in 1943 and was stationed in Washington D.C. She was one of the 22,000 women who joined the Corps during World War II. |
