Gabrielle Kessler Tracy 10/19/06 WW2OH 5 photos Gabby was born into a Jewish family in a peasant village in what was then known as Czechoslovakia. When Gabby was two years old her mother died and her grandmother came to care for Gabby and her brother Ernest and her sister Olga. Her father Samuel Weiss owned a small shop and also worked as a part time Rabbi. He could see that life in their village was about to get very difficult for Jews and he planned his family's escape. Gabby's family managed to leave Czechoslovakia and went to Budapest, Hungary to live with relatives. |
